KNPB & Silver Legacy Presents:
Reno Remembers II

This month we have pulled out a classic video from the vault called Reno Remembers II.

This video brings the history of Reno back to life in the second of its historical documentaries on the Biggest Little City, produced and directed by filmmaker Erik Westby.

The first part of the program focuses on the former Stead Air Force base, the small airport, which now serves as the site of the Reno Championship Air Races, was once a survival training facility utilitized by the military and America’s space program.

The second part documents the rise and fall of the Mapes Hotel. After opening in 1947, the Mapes became one of the area’s most glamorous destinations and played host to the rich and famous. Enjoy the heyday of the Mapes before it closed in 1982.

As always, after the program, Neal will answer questions from the audience.

Admission is $5 for adults; free for children 17 and younger and for Nevada Historical Society members. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early as seating is limited. For details, call 688-1190.
