Description

When the world-famous MGM Hello Hollywood, Hello! show opened in 1978: it was billed as The Biggest Show in the World, on The Biggest Stage in the World appearing in The Biggest Little City in the World, Reno, Nevada – it was a BIG deal! Plus, the show paid tribute to two of the biggest names in entertainment history: MGM Movie Studios and producer Florenz Ziegfeld, who is sometimes billed as the “man who invented modern day show business”.

For this month’s High Noon: Shootout with Neal Cobb, Karen Burns will present: Backstage Pass: Behind the Scenes & Seams, When Hollywood Came to Reno!

High Noon: Shootout with Neal Cobb is a wonderful history series that delves into fascinating Nevada topics with local experts. Neal Cobb is a passionate historian and honorary curator for the Nevada Historical Society. He loves all things Nevada.  Join Neal Cobb and our monthly speaker as we explore interesting topics and join in the audience conversations.

About Karen Burns:
Karen was a professional dancer appearing in many shows, most notably: Hello, Hollywood, Hello! With the Serendipity of Life, Karen had the unpreceded opportunity to purchase “a piece of history” of over 1,250 of the original spectacular costumes from this show. These costumes help to “Tell the Stories of Art, Culture and Entertainment”, when Reno, Nevada was once one of the Entertainment Capitals of the World!

The Nevada Historical Society is working with the Washoe County Library to provide our monthly lecture series on all things Nevada by Zoom. We want to give a shout-out to the Washoe County Library System for helping NHS provide our online lectures.
