Synopsis:
In this episode, thirteen scenic places throughout Nevada are showcased:
Black Rock Desert, High Rock Canyon, Charles Sheldon Wildlife Refuge, Gold Hill & Virginia City Cemetery, Flattop Mesa, Hillside Cemetery, Monte Cristo’s Castle, Mount Charleston, Red Rock Canyon, Rosewood Wash & Canyon, Upper Las Vegas Wash, Walker Lake State Recreational Area, and Thunder Canyon in Washoe Valley.
Sunny Minedew of Sun Productions in Reno created this documentary on Scenic Nevada’s community efforts. Approximately 25 minutes long, the video features interviews with members discussing the scenic character of Nevada and the problems they face.
Scenic Nevada is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving, protecting, and enhancing the scenic character of Nevada.
Nevada is unique for its landscapes and open spaces, from the Sierra Nevada mountains to the desert plains of the Mojave to the wild northern valleys.
We believe that residences and commercial spaces can peacefully coexist with scenic areas open to outdoor recreation. Scenic Nevada helps ensure that growth includes preservation of the scenic beauty that contributes to the economic vitality of Nevada.
Scenic Nevada strives to preserve a unique sense of place that pays tribute to and values natural, historic and cultural assets of Nevada. What “scenic” means to us – Natural beauty in the environment, landscapes and streetscapes – Historical and cultural sites – Striking approaches and settings – Residential, commercial and natural trails and walkways – Scenic road systems.
