Life Backstage…what could possibly go wrong?

Join speaker Christina Schlosser as she shares all the situations backstage at Harrah’s that the audience is unaware of, or they would be fleeing from the Cabaret to safety. Instances include missed cues, loose animals, fires, drunk performers, and scenery malfunctions. ⁠A great local Reno casino history program!

Christina went to work for Harrah’s, where she was a member of the stage crew for sixteen years. She moved to the front of the house and managed Keno and Bingo before becoming the Cashier/Credit Manager. This is her second talk about her experiences of working at Harrah’s.

A House Divided: Nevada Senator Bill Raggio and the Fracturing of the GOP

Author and historian, Michael Archer, will talk about his book, A House Divided: Nevada Senator Bill Raggio and the Fracturing of the GOP.⁠ William J. Raggio, a Republican, was Nevada’s longest-serving state senator, from 1972 until his resignation in 2011. Raggio was the Assistant District Attorney of Washoe County from 1952 to 1958 and District Attorney from 1958 to 1970. A study of U.S. political history shifts viewed through the career of Nevada’s foremost state legislator, Senator Bill Raggio.⁠

Author Michael Archer conducted extensive research and interviewed people on both sides of the issues that drove this dramatic change in the political landscape of Nevada and the Nation.⁠

Laura Rocke, UNR Community and University Archivist, will be our guest speaker as She will talk about Special Collections & University Archives: Who We Are, What We Do, and Why You Should Care. ⁠The University Archives was established as part of the library system to systematically collect and maintain records, documents, and publications that reflect the historical and operational aspects of UNR and its colleges. The archives are dedicated to ensuring the preservation of significant materials related to the university’s diverse history and its role in the regional and cultural landscape of Nevada.
