WE’RE TAKING OUR SHOW ON THE ROAD

DURING OUR RENOVATION

Exciting changes are coming to The Nevada Historical Society (NHS)! As we undergo a major renovation, our building will be closed to the public from January 1, 2025 through June 2026.

The construction project encompasses the entire 20,000 sq. ft. NHS facility, including extensive interior and exterior work of the original 1968 building and our collection storage addition. Upgrades include seismic stabilization, new and upgraded lighting, ADA upgrades, an enhanced entrance, stucco repairs and painting. We are working to realize architect Raymond Hellman’s original vision for the NHS building — to evoke a spaceship — with paint colors and new lighting around the cantilevered base.

The construction project is a state of Nevada funded Capitol Improvement Project.

ON THE GO MEANS IN THE COMMUNITY

While our building is closed, we will continue to share the stories of Nevada’s past through our Nevada Historical Society On The Go! Off-site events. In conjunction with community partners, NHS will host our programs at venues throughout the community and virtually.

Look for the On The Go! Badge indicating a unique community location.
