Nevada State Library and Archives (NSLA)

The Nevada State Archives component preserves the documentation of Nevada’s history, with records dating back to 1851. It holds over 17,000 cubic feet of state and territorial government records and more than 100,000 images of people and places. These materials include photographs, maps, memoirs, letters, diaries, and digital records, serving as the state’s institutional memory.

NSLAPR’s mission is to identify, preserve, and make Nevada’s heritage documentary accessible, ensuring transparency, accountability, and public understanding of Nevada’s history and governance. Today, the agency continues to expand its role in supporting public libraries, preserving state records, and providing access to historical resources for citizens, researchers, and institutions across Nevada.
