Come enjoy an artist reception to view the beautiful Nevada photographs and enjoy refreshments before the exhibit tour talk that begins at 2:00pm. Guest curator, Mark Vollmer will share engaging stories behind the photographs.

Mark Vollmer shares his unique vision in this photography exhibit & sale revealing some of the stunning moments he’s experienced while exploring Nevada & The West for over 30 years. From a Lake Tahoe sunset to ancient Pueblo ruins in New Mexico, and from the Great Reno Balloon Race to the alpine jewel of the Ruby Mountains, Mark has sought to capture the evocative beauty of our western heritage.

Mark Vollmer is an award-winning outdoor photographer & instructor, and freelance writer based in Sparks, Nevada. His illustrated feature articles have appeared in Nevada Magazine, and his images have been widely published in regional books, calendars and brochures. The 2003 publication of his best-selling coffee-table book, Tahoe Rim Trail, Exploring the Jewel, co-photographed by Reno photographer Scott Sady, revealed Mark’s “tread lightly” practice. The University of Nevada Press guidebook series, 50 of the Best Strolls, Walks and Hikes Around Reno (2017) and 50 of the Best Strolls, Walks and Hikes Around Carson City (2020) features Mark’s photographs with author Mike White’s informative text.

Mark enjoys sharing his love and passion for photography with workshop students. He has taught classes through Washoe County Parks, the Tahoe Rim Trail Association, Elderhostel, Truckee Meadows Community College, and Washoe County School District, as well as private tutoring. In April 2007, TMCC awarded Mark its Excellence in Teaching for the Continuing Education Division. Mark also photographs fragile habitats and pristine Nevada landscapes for local non-profit groups. His photographs have hung in galleries in Reno, Sparks, Sacramento, and South Lake Tahoe. The images on display reveal his love for the rich natural and cultural heritage of Nevada and the West.

The exhibition will be on display beginning March 1, 2023, through July 29, 2023.
